PREFERRED DRUG LIST PROCESS
The Preferred Drug List (PDL) is continuously under review. Drugs may be added to or
deleted from the PDL by physician request or routine review by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics
Committee. When a drug is added to the PDL, consideration will be given to deleting other items.
Drugs are added to the PDL based on objective, scientific data. Considerations include effectiveness,
side-effect profile, cost/benefit and comparison to alternative agents, if available.
Requests should include basic product information, indications for use, its therapeutic advantage,
which drug(s) it would replace in the current PDL and any supporting literature from medical journals.
The physician who requests the addition of a drug to the PDL may be invited to attend the Pharmacy and T
herapeutics Committee meeting to support the PDL addition request and answer questions.

on the second Tuesday of the month.
