Coordination of Benefits
Mercy Care Advantage (MCA) is a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan for individuals
who are eligible for both Medicare and Arizona Medicaid (AHCCCS/ALTCS). Coordination
of benefits (COB) means using all of your insurance coverages to pay for health
care services.
MCA will pay for your Medicare-covered services and for most of your Medicare Part
D prescription drugs. If you are a Mercy Care Plan Medicaid (AHCCCS/ALTCS) member,
Mercy Care Plan Medicaid will pay for part of your Medicare services and other benefits
that are not covered by MCA, such as transportation. When you receive both your
Medicare and Medicaid benefits from Mercy Care, we coordinate your Medicare and
Medicaid services in one system.
If you have MCA for your Medicare benefits but enroll in another Medicaid plan,
your Medicaid benefits will be provided and paid for by that plan. Your health care
providers will need to know you have MCA for Medicare coverage and the other plan
for Medicaid (AHCCCS/ALTCS).
If you have additional health insurance with an employer or a federal program (Tricare),
or if you recently lost this coverage, it is important for us to be notified so
we can pay your health care expenses correctly.
