As chief operating officer for Mercy Care Plan, Mark Fisher is responsible for the overall operational and financial performance of the health plan. He has 30 years of management experience in the implementation and operation of medical and behavioral health managed care programs in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, Mr. Fisher served as chief operating officer of Mercy Care Plan. Prior to that, he was senior vice president and chief operating officer for Fallon Community Health Plan in Worcester, Massachusetts, the state’s fourth largest health plan.
Mr. Fisher has also been active in the community, serving on the boards of the Meyers Primary Care Institute, the VNA Care Network and the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative.
Lorry Bottrill, chief operating officer of Mercy Care Plan, is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the health plan. Ms Bottrill is a certified public accountant with more than 14 years of experience in the health care industry. Previously, Ms. Bottrill was regional finance officer for Health Net of Arizona and was responsible for budgeting for Arizona Health Plan and heading the finance team for the national senior products division.
Ms. Bottrill has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Arizona. She has completed more than 40 hours of continuing professional education per year in accounting, audit, tax, software systems and management skills.
As chief financial officer for Mercy Care Plan, Mr. Sowers is responsible for overseeing the health plan’s financial planning and financial management. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the health care industry. His background includes contract negotiation, financial and strategic planning, contract analysis, provider reimbursement, health plan operations and hospital management.
Prior to joining Mercy Care Plan, Mr. Sowers was president and chief executive officer of Health Net of Arizona, formerly serving as its chief financial officer. In addition, he worked for PacifiCare of Arizona and Chandler Regional Hospital.
Mr. Sowers holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Arizona State University.
As chief medical officer for Mercy Care Plan, Dr. Wilson provides clinical expertise and business direction to help promote the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective medical care. Dr. Wilson joined Mercy Care in 2010 and has served as medical director, associate chief medical officer, and chief medical officer. Prior to joining Mercy Care Plan, Dr. Wilson served as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Public Health Service. His career was highlighted by a variety of challenging clinical and important leadership roles in the Indian Health Service.
He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He has a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Texas and completed his residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
As vice president of network management, Christi Lundeen oversees Mercy Care’s provider network and works to develop and improve the relationship between the plan and its contracted providers. Ms. Lundeen has 25 years of experience working for private and public health care companies.
Prior to joining MCP, she was an independent health care consultant, assisting organizations such as HTMS, Surgical Specialty Hospital of Arizona, the Arizona Optometric Association and the Popsicle Foundation. Ms. Lundeen also served as operations director for Maricopa Health Plans, coordinating and managing all administrative and operational functions for its Medicaid and Medicare Advantage program.
Matt Cowley is vice president of Medicare products for Mercy Care Plan and is responsible for the operations and business results for the Mercy Care Advantage business. Previously, he served as vice president of planning and strategy for Schaller Anderson, an Aetna company, where he was responsible for developing company-wide operating and strategic plans and reporting results as part of Aetna’s management process. Mr. Cowley joined Schaller Anderson in 2007 as director of integration.
Mr. Cowley holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
