To qualify for DD, a member must:

  • Be a resident of the state of Arizona
  • Voluntarily apply
  • Be at risk of having a developmental disability (up to age 6) OR for people over age 6, have a diagnosis of epilepsy, cerebral palsy, cognitive disability (mental retardation) or autism
  • Have a disability that occurred prior to the age of 18
  • Have substantial functional limitations in three of the seven major life areas:
    • Self-care (eating, hygiene, etc.)
    • Receptive and expressive language
    • Learning
    • Mobility
    • Self-direction
    • Capacity for independent living
    • Economic self-sufficiency
