For members that are stable on their medications (6 months on the same medication and dosage with no hospitalizations or crises) and completed Step Therapy with the RBHA, the RBHA can request to transition a member back to his or her PCP for the continued treatment of ADHD, anxiety, or depression. PCPs have the option to agree to this transition and treatment of the behavioral health disorder.
When the member is referred back to the PCP by the RBHA for the treatment of anxiety, depression, or ADHD, the PCP needs to provide the same medication at the same dose as the RBHA, as long as the member remains stable. If the member is on a non-formulary medication, MCP will authorize this non-formulary psychotropic medication for a period of time.
The T/RBHA HP Liaison, 800-564-5464, will need to be notified by the RBHA provider. MCP Behavioral Health staff must be contacted also at 602-798.2552 as soon as the T/RBHA and PCP becomes aware of a possible transition. The transition must be reviewed and coordinated with the RBHA before the member can begin to receive their psychotropic medication management from the PCP to assist with this transition of care, coordinate transfer of medical records and psychiatrist-PCP contact.
Refer to the Formulary to see if Prior Authorization is needed. To request Prior Authorization please fax your request to the Prior Authorization Fax Number: 800-217-9345.
Please also review the AHCCCS Tool Kits for assistance in determining behavioral health needs of the member.
