For members that are stable on their medications, the RBHA at times will request to transition a member back to his or her PCP for the continued treatment of ADHD, anxiety, or depression. PCPs have the option to agree to this transition and treatment of the behavioral health disorder. The Mercy Care Plan Behavioral Health Coordinator will assist in the transition of the behavioral services.
When the member is referred back to the PCP by the RBHA for the treatment of anxiety, depression or ADHD, the PCP needs to provide the same medication at the same dose as the RBHA, unless there was a subsequent change in medical condition of the member. Further, if the member/parent reports the member having tried several medications/have participated in step therapy for anxiety, depression or ADHD, the PCP should consult, or obtain information from, the member’s previous RBHA provider prior to the current treatment regime.
Please also review the AHCCCS Tool Kits for assistance in determining behavioral health needs of the member.
